I was coming to the end of my final year at university, studying Aerospace Engineering, and starting to look for a professional role in the Engineering sector when I visited the Jaltek stand at the MK Job Show in January. I was subsequently contacted, invited to attend interview and offered a position. Whilst the available role was in Stores it was explained to me that the plan was to move me around the business so that I developed a good understanding of how the different departments interacted with each other to produce an end product.
I was excited by the market sectors Jaltek works with, the pedigree of their customers and the projects and products within the business and was really looking forward to getting started. On joining the company I found the staff all really welcoming and friendly. I also noticed that Jaltek seemed to really care about the personal wellbeing, working conditions and career path of their employees. They push you to develop as an individual as well as developing your expertise.
I have learned a great deal since joining Jaltek and it has been great to put into practice the theory I developed at University. As well as gaining new skills and grasping engineering terminology, I have learned how to work within a team environment and really enhanced my communication skills. I feel like I am adding value to the company and becoming a productive, professional engineer with a broad range of capabilities.
Jaltek are keen to establish an industry renowned ‘Next Generation Talent Development Programme’ and I am proud to be one of the first employees to undertake that programme. I’m excited about my future here and looking forward to lots of new challenges as I move around the business and continue to learn.
