As new trends, technologies and expectations emerge in the constantly changing landscape of the electronics manufacturing industry, many companies are struggling to make the necessary changes to meet these new demands. The industry is experiencing shrinking product development cycles as well as constant pressure to optimise costs and differentiate products. At Jaltek we recognise the need to anticipate market changes and shift quickly to meet these new requirements.
With the introduction of our new Product Engineering Packs Jaltek aims to revolutionise the way electronic manufacturing companies work by giving control back to the Original Electronic Manufacturer (OEM). If customers choose to subscribe to this service they will be given a manual that guides them through the entire manufacturing process of their product. The pack will focus on the cost, manufacturability, quality, performance and reliability of your product; all key characteristics when taking a product to market.
Beginning at the initial conceptual design stage our concurrent product engineering approach enables the customer to realise their product as well as supporting a smooth transition to manufacture; ensuring the product can be produced in volume is a vital part of the process. We translate a customer’s vision in to a tangible design and then a fully functional product, by thoroughly documenting each stage and working together to ensure that they have the ability to make fully informed and intelligent decisions about their product throughout.
The Product Engineering Pack consists of:
• Upfront Design Guidelines and Data Requirements
• Design CAD data
• Pre-build design for manufacture/test review
• Detailed costing information; understanding exactly what the cost drivers are of a product allows us to reduce them and in turn increase margins and profit.
• A Bill of Materials Report; including component lifecycle management information as well as protection against counterfeit components, ITAR controlled parts and parts associated with Conflict Minerals.
• A Build Report; describing the ease of manufacture of a product together with suggestions for manufacturability improvements.
The Build Report includes:
• A product overview
• Regulatory compliance & component traceability
• Build preparation
• Build data
• Design for manufacture and design for test
At each stage of a products development cycle, and as it is refined, an updated data pack will be sent to the customer with the latest build report included. The result is complete certainty that you have a risk free productionised product with guaranteed quality and longevity.
As we capture, store and collate all data in to a manual – the Production Engineering Pack – our customer’s can be safe in the knowledge that this pack will also provide vital practical value as it can be used to form a key part of a customer’s business continuity plan should it be needed.
Steve Pittom, Managing Director for Jaltek Systems, commented;
‘In offering these packs our aim is to ensure that our customer’s are fully informed and in turn in full control of their own products. Customers are involved in the entire life cycle of their product, allowing them to be fully immersed in the process and understand every decision and choice that is made throughout.’
Nick Baxendale, Director of Remote Applications and Jaltek's first customer to receive a Build Report for their product, commented on their experience saying;
‘Jalteks ‘can do’ proactive approach was amply demonstrated in the recent build they undertook for us. The whole process from initial discussion through production was handled in a professional manner with excellent levels of communication throughout which smoothed what has historically been a demanding process. During the build the Jaltek team were very quick to identify potential issues and offer workable cost effective solutions which helped us deliver within very strict time constraints. The ‘build report’ is an excellent document which has enabled us to not only improve the product and give a more robust, commercially viable offering but has also identified short comings in our own internal processes which has had a positive effect on our business as a whole. Working with Jaltek was a true partnering experience and one which we are very happy to repeat as we grow our business.’
